Now using a darker orange and the paintbrush size 2 add a nostril on each side of the center line of the beak.ġ5. But again you can change the settings to work with your chick. I repeated this step once more for an even darker line. Now take your retouch tool and using Darken RGB, using setting shown, make a little darker line down the center of the beak. Convert to raster and rename this layer Beak. Move the beak over the face, rotate and position it between the eyes and resize till you like the look of it. Go to node edit and holding the shift key highlight the two top nodes, go to node edit and select symetric. Draw it large and resize by grabbing a corner handle and pulling down. Using the preset shapes - Triangle, foregound black, line width 1, background orange, draw out a triangle (if you drawing from the bottom up it will be the correct up/down angle. Add a new vector layer at thet op of the pallet. For the left wing you can either do a new vector layer and make a new wing, or you can do what I opted to do and simply duplicate your right Wing layer and move it into position on the left side and node edit as desired. Still on your wing layer, select all - float, and apply a drop shadow using these settings V 1, H -1, Opacity 14, Blur 2.ġ3. Now move the wing (winglett!) into a position you think looks best. Apply the same Eye Candy Jiggle preset we have been using, but only apply once. Rotate it to the angle you want your wing to be.

You can make it big to work on it and then just grab a corner handle to resize to fit you chick. Using the preset shapes - ellipse, draw out a narrow oval. Move the merged empty shell out of your way. Add a new vector layer at the top of your layer pallet. Merge these two layers visible, and go to Effects - 3D Effects - inner bevel and apply the Round Inner Bevel. Go to Effects - blur - soften, and soften once. Add a new raster layer and again using the paintbrush, foreground white, size 3, make a white dot on top of the black dots. Make a new raster layer right above your chick layer, and using the paintbrush, foreground black, size 7, or whatever looks right on your chick, make a black dot on each side of the chick's head. Using your deform tool rotate the empty shell to lay along side of the shell with the chick. Merge these two layers visible and resize by 90 percent (make sure resize all layers is NOT checked). Position these new layers so the back is a little higher than the front. Select the back eggshell and copy it and paste as new layer. Now you want these to halves of the eggs to look like they are joined, so use the retouch tool - smudge, setting as shown and gently smudge the edge of the back egg shell down to meet the front shell. The color of your cutout will be different than mine but be sure to use a darker color than your egg. Select the front egg shell (with the chick) float and apply a cutout with setting shown. We'll get to that in the next step :-))ħ. Don't worry that you can't see the two sides of the shell yet. Duplicate your bottom egg layer and drag it below your chick layer to make the back of the egg and pull it up a little so it's visible over the top of the front shell. go to eyecandy - jiggle and apply the setting shown in the screenshot.

Before converting to raster, I didn't think my chick was big enough for his egg so I used the side nodes and made him wider.ĥ. Add new Vector layer under bottom egg layer - Preset Shapes - ellipse and draw an oval for your chick's head and a slightly larger oval for his body - convert to raster.
